When you think of kid’s playmats, you probably immediately think of the brightly coloured road maps that adorn many family home floors. So what happens if you’ve got a tastefully designed home and kids? This was the question that our client Georgie asked. Why can’t she have a playmat that can be both functional and beautiful?

Georgie approached Recreational to help bring her brand and product vision to life with a mix of playfulness and practicality.

Little Finch brings sophisticated homeware to young families — starting with playmats. The brand needed to feel modern and timeless, while also showing a hint of playfulness and practicality. We designed a logo that embodied this with a custom illustration and adapted wordmark.

We took the brand and expanded that into an e-commerce experience for the small but well-formed product range. The store, built on Shopify, is easy for customers to use and simple for the client to manage.
